Apple Set to Unveil Vision Pro Headset in China This Year

In an ambitious move to penetrate one of the world’s largest markets, Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) is gearing up to launch its much-anticipated Vision Pro headset in China later this year. The announcement came straight from the company’s CEO, Tim Cook, during a media engagement at the China Development Forum in Beijing. Cook’s revelation underscores Apple’s commitment to expanding its technological footprint in China, alongside a pledge to boost research and development investments within the country.
The Vision Pro, Apple’s foray into the realm of virtual and augmented reality, debuted in the U.S. in February, sporting a hefty price tag of $3,500. As it enters the Chinese market, Apple faces stiff competition from local VR giants like Pico, a subsidiary of ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok. Despite the competitive landscape, Cook’s recent activities, including a visit to a new Apple store in Shanghai, signal a robust strategy to reinforce Apple’s presence in China.
This expansion comes at a critical time for Apple, as it navigates a 13% sales drop in this region, amidst growing consumer spending caution and heightened competition, particularly from Huawei’s resurgence.
