Pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca (NYSE: AZN) has announced an ambitious goal to boost its revenue to $80 billion by 2030, up from $45.8 billion in 2023. This 75% increase will be driven by advancements in oncology, biopharmaceuticals, and rare disease treatments. The company plans to introduce 20 new drugs within the next six years, many of which could generate $5 billion each at their peak.
AstraZeneca's Chief Financial Officer, Aradhana Sarin, highlighted the company’s confidence in achieving this target due to its strong and diverse portfolio. Notable efforts include the development of alternative cancer treatments to replace traditional chemotherapy and radiation.
Some of AstraZeneca’s cancer treatments, like Enhertu for breast cancer, have already received FDA approval. The company is also investing in new manufacturing facilities, such as an antibody-drug conjugate plant in Singapore, to support these advancements.
Following the COVID-19 pandemic, AstraZeneca is shifting its focus back to core areas like oncology and cardiovascular health, along with diabetes and metabolic disease treatments. The company is also exploring weight management drugs, entering partnerships to expand its reach in this competitive market.
