Canaccord Genuity Raises BlackBerry Price Target: A Cautiously Optimistic Outlook for Traders

Analysts at Canaccord Genuity have made a notable adjustment to their forecast for BlackBerry Limited (NYSE: BB), increasing the price target from $4.25 to $4.60. This revision comes alongside a maintained 'Hold' rating, painting a cautiously optimistic picture for traders interested in this cybersecurity firm.

The rationale behind this uplift centers on a more promising business outlook as we approach the latter part of 2025. Canaccord highlights that BlackBerry's strategic initiatives are poised to see increased efficiency, while its positive adjusted EBITDA could pave the way for both organic and inorganic investments into the future.

One particularly eye-catching detail in their analysis is the substantial QNX backlog, estimated at approximately $865 million. This positions BlackBerry for significant revenue momentum in the upcoming years, although Canaccord expresses some hesitation regarding the timeline for realized growth in the Internet of Things (IoT) segments, particularly given current uncertainties around auto tariffs.

It's worth noting that during fiscal year 2025, less than half of BlackBerry's QNX revenue was generated in North America. Instead, the company's broader embedded revenue opportunities-including sectors like medical, industrial automation, and robotics-made up about 18% of QNX's earnings for that same period.

Canaccord's revised sum-of-parts analysis illustrates not only BlackBerry's growth potential by segment but also the improving fundamentals of the company. Interestingly, the embedded opportunities are expected to account for 43% of the pipeline related to SDV 8.0, ahead of anticipated sales and marketing initiatives designed to boost market conversion rates.

For stock traders, this adjustment offers a window into BlackBerry's evolving prospects. With a strong backlog and initiatives focused on efficiency, the path ahead could present new opportunities, albeit with caution regarding external economic pressures. Keep an eye on this stock as it navigates through a complex landscape!
