US Regulator: Lucid to Recall Over 5,200 Air Luxury Sedans for Software Error

Lucid Group (NASDAQ: LCID) is in the spotlight after a recent notification by the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The electric vehicle manufacturer is set to recall approximately 5,251 of its 2022-2023 Air luxury sedans owing to a software malfunction that could potentially lead to a power loss.
This isn't the first time Lucid has addressed similar hiccups. In June, the company rolled out an over-the-air software update, aiming to rectify the software glitch. An additional update was also launched to detect any failures in the high voltage coolant heater and alert drivers accordingly. These proactive steps are indicative of Lucid's commitment to resolving technical issues swiftly, a critical element for boosting investor confidence.
Interestingly, this recall comes on the heels of Lucid reporting stronger-than-expected second-quarter deliveries. The boost in demand for their luxury electric sedans can be partly attributed to strategic price reductions, which appear to have paid off handsomely.
While recalls generally aren't good news, Lucid's rapid response and rising deliveries could signal resilience.
