MapleStory Universe Rolls Out MSU Space and Kicks Off Global Game Jam with $60K NXPC Prize Pool

MapleStory Universe, Nexon's blockchain-driven extension of the beloved MapleStory franchise, just opened the doors to MSU Space-a new creative hub developed in partnership with AI-powered game maker Verse8. At the same time, it launched MapleStory Vibe Camp, a worldwide game jam calling on developers to build original experiences using official assets.

The competition runs from June 8 through June 29 and dishes out a total prize pot of US$60,000 in NXPC tokens. Sun Young Hwang, CEO at Nexpace, detailed that the new phase emphasizes a blurrier line between players and creators. AI tools lower the barriers to entry, allowing a wider range of users to build around and with MapleStory IP, turning the franchise into more of an open canvas than a closed game.

MSU Space on Verse8 gives users access to official MapleStory assets integrated with AI-assisted building tech, enabling rapid prototyping and publishing without needing traditional development expertise. It's designed to attract developers and AI-native creators who may be new to the ecosystem, opening up the platform to fresh perspectives and innovation.

Kevin Lee, Verse8's CEO, emphasized the democratization of game creation this partnership represents, noting the leap from IP use being restricted to big studios toward inclusive, community-driven building environments powered by AI.
