Quoin Pharmaceuticals Shares Jump 66% After Breakthrough in Rapamycin Delivery

Quoin Pharmaceuticals Ltd (NASDAQ:QNRX) saw its stock jump sharply, climbing 66% in premarket trading on Tuesday after announcing a significant development in its drug delivery technology. The company hit its goal for rapamycin concentrations in two novel topical delivery systems, signaling a major step forward.
Specifically, Quoin reached a 4% weight/weight concentration for its proprietary topical rapamycin formulation and an even more impressive 5% concentration for its dermal patch system. These numbers exceed many of the typical drug loadings being developed in related topical treatments.
The biotech outfit aims to begin producing clinical trial and stability batches later this quarter. With testing slated to kick off in the first half of 2026, Quoin is positioning itself to explore treatments for rare conditions like Microcystic Lymphatic Malformations and Venous Malformations-ailments currently without any FDA-approved therapies.
CEO Dr. Michael Myers noted that their advanced delivery platforms might give Quoin an edge over competitors by optimizing how rapamycin reaches affected tissues. This could potentially translate to more effective treatment outcomes if clinical results prove successful.
Quoin's ongoing pipeline activities also include late-stage work on Netherton Syndrome and a program targeting Peeling Skin Syndrome. The company recently secured fresh capital, which it says will fund completion of Netherton studies and push forward development of its other projects.
The buzz around Quoin highlights the biotech sector's dynamic environment where innovative delivery mechanisms can unlock new possibilities for existing compounds, potentially opening doors to breakthrough therapies.
That 66% premarket spike reflects strong market interest in Quoin's progress but also raises questions about the sustainability of such momentum absent trial data. How well these topical systems perform in human trials will be the real test of their value.
As the company advances into upcoming clinical phases, the broader industry will be watching to see if these high rapamycin loadings translate into tangible patient benefits or represent just another early-stage biotech excitement.
