RPM International Earnings Preview: What Investors Should Know
Alex Vellor
Wall Street analysts expect RPM International (NYSE:RPM) to report quarterly earnings of $1.76 per share, reflecting a 7.3% increase from the same period last year. Revenue projections stand at $2.02 billion, marking a slight growth of 0.3%.
Earnings estimates have remained unchanged over the past month, indicating stable expectations. Adjustments in these estimates can be crucial for predicting short-term stock movement, as past trends show a strong link between estimate changes and price performance.
Key metrics to watch include RPM's Construction Products Group (CPG), forecasted to generate $801.62 million in net sales, a 2.4% improvement. The Specialty Products Group (SPG) is expected to see a slight decline of 1.4%, with projected sales of $178.37 million. The Consumer Segment's net sales are predicted to drop 1.9% to $657.24 million, while Performance Coatings Group (PCG) is forecasted to grow slightly, with sales up 0.1% to $378.72 million.
Adjusted EBIT for CPG is expected at $150.38 million, up from $144.60 million last year, while PCG’s EBIT is projected at $65.66 million, up from $59.05 million. SPG’s EBIT is forecasted to drop slightly to $17.26 million, while Consumer Segment EBIT is expected to rise to $128.46 million from $121.17 million.
Despite an 8% stock gain over the past month, RPM’s current price is significantly above its calculated intrinsic value. This suggests the stock may not be an attractive entry point for long-term investors unless future growth is validated by sustained performance. Investors should remain cautious ahead of Q1 earnings, which will clarify near-term revenue drivers amid market conditions.
With anticipated earnings and potential volatility, intrinsic value and market sentiment will play major roles in RPM’s short-term price movements.
