Temenos (TEMN) plunges 12% after Jean‑Pierre Brulard exits; CFO named interim as board hunts core-banking expert

Shares of Temenos Group AG (SIX:TEMN) slid about 12% on Friday after the company announced the immediate exit of CEO Jean-Pierre Brulard.
The board tapped chief financial officer Takis Spiliopoulos to act as interim chief executive while it runs a search for a permanent replacement. Management reiterated its 2025 and 2028 financial guidance and said current operating performance is in line with expectations, but the market reacted sharply to the news anyway.
Chairman Thibault de Tersant said the board asked Brulard to step down, pointing to a need for longer-term stability at the top and "deeper expertise" in core banking software. That's notable given Brulard had only been in the job since May 2024 after a 16-month hunt for a successor - and his stint produced a mixed set of results: sluggish revenue growth in some quarters but resilient earnings before interest and taxes.
In Q2 2025 Temenos reported stronger revenue and profit, and the company upgraded its full-year outlook off that performance. Still, the abrupt leadership change raises fresh questions about execution and product focus at a time when clients tend to prefer steady roadmaps for big banking-system projects.
Analysts at Morgan Stanley described the surprise exit as a negative signal for the market. For traders, sudden senior departures often translate into increased intraday volatility and a re-pricing of near-term execution risk - exactly what played out in TEMN's session on Friday.
Two practical details matter for anyone tracking the story: the CFO is in charge for now, and the board has signaled it wants someone with deeper core-banking software chops. How fast they find that profile is the key variable - remember, the previous CEO search took over a year.
So: a quick management reshuffle, confirmed guidance, and a stock that took a hit. How long until the next boss arrives?
