Trump Warns Iranian Ships of Swift Action Near U.S. Blockade at Strait of Hormuz

President Donald Trump issued a stark warning on social media threatening to "immediately ELIMINATE" any Iranian ships attempting to approach the U.S. blockade positioned around parts of the Strait of Hormuz. This move comes as uncertainty looms over whether the blockade officially started as scheduled Monday morning.

The U.S. military had announced it would begin enforcing a maritime blockade at 10 a.m. Eastern, targeting vessels entering or leaving Iranian ports and coastal areas. The restrictions reportedly encompass Iran's entire coastline, including its vital ports and energy installations.

Alerts from U.K. Maritime Trade Operations confirmed that all vessel traffic would be subject to the blockade in the Gulf of Oman and Arabian Sea east of Hormuz, without exception for their nationality. Vessels caught entering or exiting the blockaded areas without permission face interception and possible capture, although passage through Hormuz towards non-Iranian destinations reportedly remains unobstructed.

Tehran responded harshly, labeling the blockade an act of piracy that endangers regional security. Iran's armed forces declared no port in the Persian Gulf and Sea of Oman would be safe if the blockade goes into effect. Iranian officials emphasized their resolve to defend territorial waters and indicated readiness to retaliate against what they see as an act of war.

Amid the escalating rhetoric, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf sent a pointed message to Trump: "If you fight, we will fight." Meanwhile, a parliamentary security commission spokesperson described Trump's blockade announcement as bluster, warning Washington to show respect and hinting at undisclosed strategic moves by Iran.

European leaders distanced themselves from the U.S. stance, with Spain and the U.K. opting out of involvement, and calls from the European Commission for restoring navigation freedom. Trump publicly criticized NATO for a perceived lack of support in the Iran situation, putting his administration's transatlantic relationships under scrutiny.

Israel has voiced strong support for the blockade, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu framing it as a firm message from Trump. This endorsement comes amidst ongoing tensions following Israeli strikes on Iran-aligned Hezbollah targets in Lebanon and upcoming regional talks slated for Washington.

Markets reacted quickly to the news. Oil prices surged beyond the $100 per barrel mark Monday, reflecting immediate concerns about supply disruptions. Global stock markets showed signs of volatility, with investors digesting the geopolitical risks.

Meanwhile, reports surfaced that Trump is considering limited military strikes on Iran after lengthy talks in Pakistan failed to produce an agreement. American and Iranian negotiators remain deadlocked on nuclear development and regional security issues, with no immediate prospects for resumed dialogue.

Trump dismissed the necessity of Iran's return to negotiations, asserting confidence in his administration's blockade and military posture. The unfolding situation keeps the Strait of Hormuz-a critical artery for the world's oil supply-locked in the spotlight.
