Amkor Technology Earnings Call Transcript Summary of Q1 2026
Amkor reported a strong Q1 2026 with record revenue of $1.68 billion, up 27% year-over-year, driven by broad-based demand across communications, computing (AI data center), automotive & industrial, and consumer end markets. EPS was $0.33, gross margin improved to 14.2%, and EBITDA margin was 16.9%. Management highlighted increasing utilization (Q1 utilization in the low-70s), continued ramp plans for advanced packaging (HDFO, flip chip, test) including a new data-center CPU HDFO program starting to ramp this quarter, and geographic expansion (Arizona Phase 1 construction progressing, new Korea test building on track). They expect Q2 revenue of $1.75–$1.85 billion and gross margin of 14.5–15.5%, with full-year CapEx of $2.5–3.0 billion (65–70% facilities expansion). Management warned of supply-material timing variability (advanced silicon, substrates, memory) and some pricing pressure from material cost inflation, but said customer pricing actions, improved utilization and mix toward higher-value advanced packaging should support margin expansion into the mid- to high-teens in H2. Arizona Phase 1 will drive long-term margin expansion, though start-up costs are expected to dilute operating income by ~1–2 percentage points beginning in 2027 before improving in 2028 and beyond. Liquidity and balance sheet remain strong (cash & short-term investments $1.8B, total liquidity $2.9B, debt $1.4B). Management will provide more detail at Investor Day on May 21.
