Cohu Earnings Call Transcript Summary of Q1 2026
Q1 2026 was a strong quarter for Cohu with revenue of $125.1 million, gross margin of 46.5%, and orders and bookings driven by AI/high-performance compute (HPC), inspection (HBM), and rising device complexity. Orders grew robustly (handler orders +54% Y/Y; inspection/orders +64% Y/Y; semiconductor test orders +163% Y/Y) and utilization improved to ~78%. Management now sees a targeted computing-segment opportunity pipeline of about $750 million (primarily Eclipse handlers and HBM inspection) and raised its 2026 HPC revenue outlook to $80–100 million. Q2 revenue is guided to ~$144 million (+15% sequential, +34% Y/Y) and full-year 2026 revenue growth is expected at 20–25% with mid-40s gross margins for the year. Recurring revenue (consumables, service, software) represented ~60% of Q1 revenue and software/analytics is an emerging high-margin recurring driver (current ARR ~$1.2M, attachment rate still low at ~1.3% of systems). Management is investing to scale Eclipse supply/production and R&D, increasing OpEx (Q1 OpEx ~$55M; Q2 OpEx guidance ~ $53M and expected to remain in low $50M range), and expects Q3 to be similar to Q2 with some Q4 seasonality. Cash and investments were $489M; total debt $305M (includes convertible debt).
