Europe's biggest hotel group Accor said on Thursday its core earnings swung back to profit in 2021, helped by consecutive business recovery since April and higher absorption of fixed costs.

Hotel chains are continuing to foray into business segments and launch initiatives to stay relevant and dynamic amid the vagaries of Covid-19 waves and ensuing curbs.Companies that have diversified into new territories and rolled out new offerings since the pandemic outbreak, including ITC Hotels, Accor, Leela Palace and Roseate, plan to continue with those initiatives despite the decline in cases.Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts has launched a signature fragrance, ''Tishya by The Leela'' this month alongside a new range of bath amenities. The fragrance and bath and body collection has been conceptualised and executed in collaboration with Kimrica Hunter International, the country''s largest manufacturer of luxury toiletries and guest room amenities, the hotel chain said."The Leela is the first Indian luxury hotel brand to have introduced a signature fragrance," its COO Anuraag Bhatnagar said.Roseate Hotels & Resorts is working on its own range of tea, coffee, and wine, and it plans to launch two to three coworking spaces and two to three cafes every year, its CEO Kush Kapoor said.
