Flight delays in Nigeria have worsened in the last six months and passengers are worried that airlines hardly keep to scheduled flight time. While airlines most times fail to communicate the actual reasons for flight delays, they generalise these reasons as technical reasons. However, Airline Operators of Nigeria, (AON) recently shared with BusinessDay, top reasons for flight delays in Nigeria. According to AON, while flight delays and cancellations occur all over the world, it is however instructive to note that in Nigeria, 80 percent of the causes of delays and cancellations are due to factors that are neither in the control of airlines nor caused by them. Some of the more prevalent causes of delays and cancellations include, but are by no means limited to the following: Weather Due to the lack of basic navigational and visual aids at most airports across the country, airlines are forced to delay flights unnecessarily, waiting for visibility to improve either at departure or destination airports.

According to leading global professional services firm Aon''s 26th Salary Increase Survey in India, organizations across industries project a 9.9% salary increase in 2022, compared to 9.3% in 2021

India Inc is likely to give out a 9.9% salary hike in 2022 compared to 9.3% in 2021, according to Aon plc, a global professional services firm that released insights from its latest Salary Increase Survey in India. According to the study, which analysed data across 1,500 companies from more than 40 industries, this is the highest hike in the last five years.The industries with the highest projected salary increases are e-commerce, venture capital, hi-tech/IT, IT-enabled services (ITeS) and Life Sciences.Survey participants reported the highest attrition figure of 21% in over a decade in 2021.“Salary increases should come as a welcome break for employees amidst a volatile period," said Nitin Sethi, partner and CEO of Aon’s Human Capital Solutions in India."For employers, it could emerge as a double- edged sword when you combine the rising cost of talent with record-high attrition numbers. This trend is fueled by economic recovery and the need for organizations to invest in new age capabilities to build a resilient workforce,” he said.
