Uber will add a temporary surcharge of 45 or 55 cents per ride as gas prices nationwide hit a new record high. Gas is averaging $4.33 a gallon, up by almost 50 cents since last week.

Uber is adding a "temporary fuel surcharge" to fares to help drivers pay for record-high gas prices around the country. The surcharge will be in place even if the driver is using an electric vehicle.
