Saudi Stocks Slip as Tadawul All Share Edges Down 0.09% Amid Sector Declines

The Saudi stock market saw a modest pullback on Thursday, with the Tadawul All Share index dropping 0.09% by the end of trading. The decline was largely fueled by losses in key sectors such as petrochemicals, energy, and building and construction, which put pressure on overall market performance.
Among the day's top gainers were Shatirah House Restaurant Co (TADAWUL: 6016), which climbed 6.67% to close at 16.32 SAR. flynas Company SJSC (TADAWUL: 4264) also advanced by 3.68%, finishing at 70.50 SAR, and Saudi Awwal Bank SJSC (TADAWUL: 1060) rose 2.62% to 32.94 SAR.
On the downside, Tabuk Agriculture Development Co (TADAWUL: 6040) shares slid 5.68% to close at 8.14 SAR, marking a new five-year low. Walaa Cooperative Insurance Company SJSC (TADAWUL: 8060) dropped 5.35%, ending at 11.50 SAR, while Raydan Co (TADAWUL: 6012) took a 4.10% hit to settle at 26.22 SAR, its lowest level ever.
There were 203 declining stocks on the Saudi Exchange compared to 107 advancing issues, with 31 remaining flat. This imbalance highlights a broad-based selling pressure across several industries.
Oil prices took a dip parallel to the market movement. West Texas Intermediate crude for January delivery slid 1.11% to $57.81 a barrel, and Brent crude for February shed 1.08%, closing at $61.54 a barrel. The drop in energy commodities often correlates directly with trading sentiment in the region's energy-dependent equities.
Meanwhile, precious metals posted gains; the February Gold Futures contract was up by 0.53%, reaching $4,246.90 per troy ounce, providing a somewhat contrasting commodity outlook against the decline in oil.
In currency markets, the euro strengthened slightly against the Saudi riyal, with EUR/SAR rising 0.18% to 4.40, whereas the USD/SAR pair remained steady at 3.75. The US Dollar Index futures shed 0.31%, closing at 98.46.
These subtle shifts in the Saudi market happen amid a somewhat cautious mood internationally, with investors balancing between commodity price moves and underlying sector performance in a fluctuating global economy.
