Movado Group Earnings Call Transcript Summary of Q2 2026
Movado Group reported Q2 fiscal 2026 sales of $161.8M, up 3.1% year-over-year, and adjusted operating profit more than doubled to $7.0M from $2.6M a year ago despite approximately $2.2M of unmitigated U.S. tariff expense. Licensed brands led growth (9.5% reported; 6.5% constant currency) while the Movado owned brand declined 5.6%. International sales grew (6.9% reported; 3.9% constant currency), offsetting a 1.6% decline in U.S. sales. Gross margin held near prior-year levels (54.1% vs. 54.3%) despite tariff and FX headwinds. The company has a strong liquidity position with roughly $180M cash and no debt, increased inventory (up ~$28M, largely in the U.S.) to hedge against tariff disruption, and expects approximately $10M of annualized savings from prior cost actions. Management is focused on product momentum (notably small/“mini” watches and several new seasonal launches), restoring Movado wholesale growth, expanding digital/e‑commerce, and margin improvement, but is not providing fiscal 2026 guidance given tariff and macro uncertainty. The company continues share repurchases to offset dilution and intends to use remaining authorization opportunistically.
