Dow rises 422 points, snaps losing streak as Russia tensions ease

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 422.67 points to snap a losing streak Tuesday as Russia reported that it would pull back some troops from Ukraine''s border, easing fears of an invasion.
U.S. stocks rose by 1.6% today fueled by a 2.2% increase in mid cap stocks and a 2.8% increase in technology stocks. The S&P 500 Index is currently down 7.6% year-to-date, and up 13.3% over the past 12 months. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is currently down 4.7% year-to-date, and up 11.7% over the past 12 months. Elsewhere, commodities fell 1.8% with gold falling 1.0%, crude oil falling 2.8% and copper rising 0.9%. The yield on 10-year Treasuries is 1.92%, while the dollar weakened by 0.4% against a basket of other currencies. Meanwhile, investment grade corporate bonds fell by 0.5%, and high yield bonds rose by 0.2%. Stocks The S&P 500 Index rose 1.6%. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 1.3%. The Nasdaq Composite Index rose 1.8%. The Nasdaq 100 Index rose 2.5%. The Volatility Index declined 8.1%. Large cap stocks, as represented by the S&P 100 Index, rose 1.6%.
