Ford Motor Co, Suzuki Motor Corp and Hyundai Motor are among 20 companies that will be eligible for incentives under India''s $3.5 billion scheme to boost clean fuel vehicles, the government said on Friday.
As many as 20 companies including Hyundai Motor India, Suzuki Motor Gujarat, Ashok Leyland, Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M), Hero MotoCorp, Bajaj Auto, Ola Electric Technologies have been approved for the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for the automobile sectors.“The Scheme has been a huge success in terms of overwhelming response received with a proposed investment of Rs 45,016 cr from approved applicants”, the Ministry of Heavy Industries said in a statement Friday. Apart from Indian business groups, approved applicants for Champion OEM Incentive scheme include groups from countries such as Republic of Korea, USA, Japan, France, Italy, UK and Netherlands. As many as 115 companies had applied for the Rs 25,938 crore production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme for the automotive and auto component sector notified by the government in September last year. Of the applicants, 13 are original equipment manufacturers (excluding 2-wheeler and 3-wheeler companies) and seven are 2W & 3W OEMs.
