Auto retailers body Federation of Automobile Dealers’ Association (FADA) said it has written to Hyundai India and Kia India to clear their stand on the Korean auto major Hyundai Motor Company’s Pakistan arm posts on its official Twitter and Facebook handles, announcing “solidarity with Kashmir”. FADA added it is also urging the Ministry of Heavy Industries & SIAM India to seek clarifications on the issue. “We strictly condemn the act of Hyundai Pakistan and Kia Pakistan for the tweets on Kashmir. We remain committed to our motherland and have written to both the companies on India to clear their stand on the same”, FADA said in a statement, adding, “We also urge the Ministry of Heavy Industries & SIAM India to seek clarifications.” Hyundai Motor India, the country''s second-largest car maker, has come under massive crossfire on social media after the car maker’s Pakistan arm released posts on its official Twitter and Facebook handles, announcing “solidarity with Kashmir”. Social media users in India on Sunday called for mass boycotts or cancelling bookings of the car maker.Several verified handles of BJP and VHP ministers also called for boycotts of Hyundai India through tweets on Sunday, adding taglines such as ''Kashmir Hamara Hi Rahega'' (Kashmir will remain ours).“Let us remember the sacrifices of our Kashmiri brothers and stand in support as they struggle for freedom,” the posts by Hyundai Pakistan declared on Saturday.

New Delhi, February 7 Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) chain KFC on Monday apologised following an outrage on social media over a post from its Pakistan-based franchise supporting separatists in Kashmir. "We deeply apologise for a post that was published on some KFC social media channels outside the country. We honour and respect India, and remain steadfast in our commitment to serving all Indians with pride,"according to a message on KFC India official account on Twitter. Earlier, in a social media post, a verified account of KFC had supported the separatists in Kashmir and posted "Kashmir belong to Kashmiris". The incident follows the backlash that Hyundai Motors faced on Sunday on social media after a dealer in Pakistan posted a message supporting separatists in Kashmir. A Twitter account of a Hyundai dealer in Pakistan with handle @hyundaiPakistanOfficial had posted a message supporting Kashmir Solidarity day, supporting what it called as "struggle for freedom". Following the post, #BoycottHyundai trended on Twitter in India with many people asking to stop buying the company''s products in the country.

Top passenger vehicle makers, Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Mahindra & Mahindra, Toyota Kirloskar Motor and Honda, on Tuesday reported decline in vehicle dispatches from factories to dealers in January amid shortage of semiconductors continuing to hamper production. However, Tata Motors and Skoda Auto India posted huge jump in their domestic wholesales during the month. Maruti Suzuki India''s domestic sales slipped by 8 per cent to 1,36,442 units last month as against 1,48,307 units in January 2021. "The shortage of electronic components had a minor impact on the production of vehicles which are primarily sold in domestic market. The company took all possible measures to minimise the impact," MSI said in a statement. Similarly, Hyundai Motor India Ltd reported a 15.35 per cent drop in its domestic sales to 44,022 units last month against 52,005 units in January 2021. In contrast, Tata Motors'' total passenger vehicles sale was higher at 40,777 units last month as compared to 26,978 units
