Biden slammed for undercutting allies over EastMed
10:11am, Tuesday, 25'th Jan 2022 Financial Mirror
US Congress members Gus Bilirakis and Nicole Malliotakis have told Secretary of State Antony Blinken they vociferously object to Washingtons reversal of support for the Eastern Mediterranean gas pipeline. They oppose a decision by US President Joe Biden to withdraw support for the ambitious EastMed pipeline, a joint project by Greece, Cyprus and Israel that would supply natural gas to the European Union. By undermining the project, the Administration is undercutting three of our strongest allies in the region: Israel, Greece, and Cyprus, as well as the European Unions hopes for energy independence and economic prosperity, the letter to Blinken The post Biden slammed for undercutting allies over EastMed appeared first on Financial Mirror .

Arctic Cold Snap Could Push U.S. Natural Gas Prices Higher
11:00pm, Monday, 17'th Jan 2022 OilPrice com
Forecasts of frigid temperatures later this month sent U.S. natural gas prices surging in the middle of last week to above $4.85 per million British thermal units (MMBtu)the highest level since November. If the cold snap expected over the next two weeks holds and forecasts for additional Arctic blasts this winter materialize, natural gas at the Henry Hub could surge to above $6/MMBtu again, in a pattern similar to the one from the winter of 2014, when the polar vortex drove demand high and pushed up prices, analysts say.
Greenwald: Senate Democrats Use The Jim Crow Filibuster To Protect The Kremlin

Greenwald: Senate Democrats Use The Jim Crow Filibuster To Protect The Kremlin Authored by Glenn Greenwald via greenwald.substack.com , Speaking at the funeral of Rep. John Lewis (D-GA) in May, 2020, former President Barack Obama called for the elimination of the Senate filibuster, which he maligned as another Jim Crow relic. During his four years in the Senate, Obama himself used that Jim Crow relic on two dozen occasions to block the Republican majority from bringing various bills to a floor vote. (Photo by Peter Zay/Anadolu Agency via Getty Images) In 2005, Obama''s second year in the Senate, Republicans furious that Senate Democrats were using the filibuster to block President Bush''s judicial appointments proposed the "nuclear option to eliminate the 60-vote requirement for judicial appointments. In response, the junior Senator from Illinois took to the floor of the Senate and delivered one of his trademarked impassioned speeches in defense of this Jim Crow relic, railing against the unfairness of one party, be it Republican or Democrat chang[ing] the rules in the middle of the game so they can make all the decisions while the other party is told to sit down and keep quiet. He also heralded the importance of the 6o-vote requirement in the Senate for protecting the rights of the minority party: If the right of free and open debate is taken away from the minority party and the millions of Americans who ask us to be their voice, I fear the partisan atmosphere in Washington will be poisoned to the point where no one will be able to agree on anything. Filibuster hypocrisy of this sort is the norm in Washington.

"Add in the tight supplies in Europe that may bleed over to Asia, and no one wants to be short," Kissler said. "Front-month futures reached the highest seasonal price since 2010.
