US Sends Fleet Of LNG Ships To Fuel-Starved Europe
10:45am, Thursday, 23'rd Dec 2021 Zero Hedge
US Sends Fleet Of LNG Ships To Fuel-Starved Europe Europe''s consumption of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the U.S. is about to significantly increase as a fleet of LNG carriers are en route to the fuel-starved continent. A record rally in European natural gas has put a hefty premium at the benchmark Dutch Title Transfer Facility (TTF) hub over the Japan-Korea- Marker (JKM). We noted earlier that commodity traders with uncommitted LNG cargo from the US Atlantic basin headed to Asia via LNG carriers are changing routes to supply Europe to take advantage of massive arbitrage opportunities . Below is the spread between European and U.S. natgas prices, well above its 15-year range. New shipping data shows what Bloomberg calls a "flotilla of U.S. LNG cargos" headed to Europe. Out of 76 U.S. LNG cargoes in transit, 10 tankers carrying a combined 1.6 million cubic meters of the heating and power plant fuel have declared destinations in Europe, shipping data compiled by Bloomberg shows. Another 20 tankers carrying an estimated 3.3 million cubic meters appear to be crossing the Atlantic Ocean and are on a path to the continent.

US natural gas futures rise over 2% on slightly cooler forecasts
12:11pm, Wednesday, 15'th Dec 2021 Business Recorder
US natural gas futures climbed more than 2% on Wednesday on forecasts for colder weather over the next two weeks than previously expected. That price gain came despite near record US output, a decline in US liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports this week, a 4% slide in European gas prices and forecasts for less US demand next week than previously expected. Front-month gas futures rose 8.8 cents, or 2.4%, to $3.835 per million British thermal units (mmBtu) at 6:44 a.m. EST (1144 GMT). On Tuesday, the contract closed at its lowest since Dec. 7. Global gas prices have soared to all-time highs over the last few months - most recently in Europe on Tuesday - as utilities around the world scrambled for LNG cargoes to replenish low stockpiles in Europe and meet surging demand in Asia, where energy shortfalls caused power blackouts in China. US natural gas futures slip to one-week low on milder forecasts US futures jumped to a 12-year high in early October but have retreated because the United States has plenty of gas in storage and ample production for winter.
US natural gas futures slip to one-week low on milder forecasts
01:58pm, Tuesday, 14'th Dec 2021 Business Recorder
US natural gas futures eased to a one-week low on Tuesday on forecasts for milder weather and less heating demand over the next two weeks than previously expected. That price decline came despite a 3% rise in European gas prices to their highest since hitting a record in early October that should keep US liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports near record highs. Front-month US gas futures fell 4.5 cents, or 1.2%, to $3.749 per million British thermal units (mmBtu) at 7:24 a.m. EST (1224 GMT), putting the contract on track for its lowest close since Dec. 7. That decline cut the premium of March 2021 futures over April 2021 to a record low of 6 cents per mmBtu. The industry uses the March-April spread, known as the widow maker, to bet on the winter heating season when demand for gas peaks. That puts the widow maker close to going into contango with summer contracts trading over winter contracts before winter officially begins on Dec. 21 with the winter solstice. US natural gas futures rise more than 3% on soaring European prices The industry calls the March-April spread the "widow maker" because rapid price moves resulting from changing weather forecasts have knocked some speculators out of business, including the Amaranth hedge fund, which lost over $6 billion on gas futures in 2006.
