THE Covid-19 vaccination program has been on the right track since it began in March this year and is poised to reach its first milestone by the end of the year through different programs aimed to convince Filipinos to get vaccinated. From an initial shipment of 600,000 doses in February, the country''s stockpile grew to 160 million doses of vaccines as of December 21. So far, 101 million doses have been administered. The National Capital Region (Metro Manila) led the most number of inoculations at 19.3 million doses, followed by the Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon) Region at 14.7 million doses and Central Luzon at 11.5 million doses. Other regions are catching up, and with the government ramping up its targets, it launched the National Vaccination Day blitz program to allow more Filipinos to get vaccinated. The vaccination blitz, called "Bayanihan Bakunahan," was first held from November 29 to December 3 and set a grand 15 million target before issues regarding supply of syringes lowered its target to 9 million.
