Thousands of customers lost service on Thursday when the telecommunications company ran into problems while trying to expand its network, the company's chief executive said.
AT&T CEO John Stankey sent a letter to the telecom giant's employees on Sunday about the cellular network outage that occurred Thursday and the company's efforts to restore service.
Service was restored late on Thursday on AT&T's 5G network which covers around 290 million people across the United States.
AT&T will credit customers a full day of service for the carrier's more than 10-hour outage on Thursday that affected more than 70,000 users, saying it was the "right thing to do."
AT&T is offering customers a $5 credit if they were affected by the massive outage on Thursday, which saw over 70,000 customers lose cell service in Texas, Florida, California and other states.
