FAA Warns Boeing 747S,777S Prone To 5G Interference The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) updated information Tuesday, indicating about 90% of the U.S. fleet is approved for flights as the rollout of 5G networks begins. *FAA ISSUES DIRECTIVES RESTRICTING FLIGHTS ON TWO BOEING MODELS *BOEING 777S, 747S SUBJECT TO 5G INTERFERENCE, U.S. FAA SAYS zerohedge (@zerohedge) January 25, 2022 FAA announced large, long-range wide-body airliners, including Boeing 747S and Boeing 777S, are subjected to 5G interference. The agency has issued safety directives for both planes. The rollout of 5G has been a big mess in American skies. AT&T and Verizon began deploying the new high-speed cellular network on Jan. 19 while agreeing to create buffer zones around certain airports . The crux of the problem lies in the aircraft''s radar altimeter uses frequencies close to C-band. 5G towers also use C-band radio spectrum frequencies that have the potential to disrupt radar altimeters, an important device on aircraft that informs the pilot of the altitude.

FAA estimates 78 percent of US planes can land at airports with 5G C-band

There were concerns some altimeters might not properly filter 5G signals. | Photo by Nicolas Economou/NurPhoto via Getty Images The FAA has announced that an estimated 78 percent of the U.S. commercial fleet have been cleared to land at airports with 5G C-band, even under low-visibility conditions. The agencys statement comes after a week of controversy surrounding the rollout of AT&T and Verizons upgraded cellular tech, which saw US airlines warning of catastrophic disruption to travel and shipping and some international airlines announcing theyd halt flights to some US airports . At issue are concerns that some radio altimeters wont properly ignore signals from the new 5G transmitters. While there are precautions that should keep this from happening, including creating buffer zones around airports , an incorrect altimeter reading could cause real problems Continue reading

5G Network Deployment In The US Spawns Cluster Of Disruption
12:25am, Thursday, 20'th Jan 2022 Zero Hedge
5G Network Deployment In The US Spawns Cluster Of Disruption Authored by Jon Ostrower via theaircurrent.com (emphasis ours), Something is going on with Runway 10L at Palm Beach International Airport in Florida. Last week, a Bombardier-built CRJ200 regional jet on final approach had the strangest thing happen. The aircrafts radar altitude abruptly ran down to zero, causing repeated loud aural warnings: PULL UP WHOOP WHOOP DONT SINK TOO LOW GEAR . The flight landed without incident in good weather, but it wasnt the first time. Exact same location multiple times the past two weeks, the pilot, who was on the flight deck for both anomalies, told The Air Current . The incidents were reported to the Federal Aviation Administration. Its not known definitively if the radar altimeter behavior was related to pre-deployment testing of 5G telecommunication technologies , but the unexplained incident underscored the fears of aviators, as well as the confusion and increasing disruption that is now befalling U.S. commercial aviation.
