Expressing solidarity with the Ukrainian people, TotalEnergies assured to provide fuel to the Ukrainian authorities and aid to Ukrainian refugees in Europe
Futures, Treasury Yields Tumble As Ukraine News Spike Risk Off Mood In a mirror image of yesterday''s overnight bounce, S&P futures and European markets have slumped to session lows as a risk off mood prevailed as US traders got to their desks having hit overnight highs of 4,399 just before the European open, as mood soured after the conflict in Ukraine intensified amid mounting penalties against Russia, and as participants look to a heavy data-docket ahead and Fed speak including Powell later in the week. Any residual optimism was shattered after Ukrainian President Zelensky said that negotiations with the Russian side have not achieved required results while Russian Defense Minister Shoygu says Russia will continue operations in Ukraine until it achieves its goals. As a result, Nasdaq 100 contracts were down 0.9% as of 7 a.m. in New York after the cash index closed yesterday’s session with its second straight monthly decline, a trend not seen since October 2020. S&P 500 futures declined 0.7% or 30 points to 4,337 while Dow futures fell 0.7% or 230 points, reversing much of yesterday''s last hour ramp.

TotalEnergies says no capital for new Russian projects, but staying put

11:17am, Tuesday, 01'st Mar 2022 Business Recorder
TotalEnergies condemned what it called Moscow''s military aggression in Ukraine but stopped short on Tuesday of joining rivals Shell and BP in planning to exit positions in resource-rich Russia. The French oil major, which holds a 19.4% stake in Novatek , Russia''s largest producer of liquefied natural gas, said it "will no longer provide capital for new projects in Russia". "TotalEnergies supports the scope and strength of the sanctions put in place by Europe and will implement them regardless of the consequences (currently being assessed) on its activities in Russia," it said in a statement. TotalEnergies announced in January it was pulling out of Myanmar almost a year after a coup there. In 2018 it had to drop its involvement in Iran''s South Pars gas field after it failed to receive sanctions waivers for the project. Earlier, French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire had said he would be holding discussions with the heads of TotalEnergies and energy company Engie about their business interests in Russia. "I believe there is a question of principle in working with any political or financial person close to Russian power," Le Maire told France Info radio.
TotalEnergies SE said it will no longer provide capital for new projects in Russia, a modest concession to the mounting political pressure to economically isolate the country that doesn’t go as far as some of its peers.
