Google has announced to provide $3 million over the next five years for the Data Transfer Project (DTP) that it announced in the year 2018. The Data Transfer Project was founded by Google, Apple, Facebook (now Meta), Microsoft, Twitter and SmugMug to "simplify data portability for people around the world." It aims to make switching to competing services easier for internet users.
