Telecom sector revenue growth likely to more than double, analysts say

06:53pm, Sunday, 20'th Feb 2022 Economic Times India
Telecom sector revenue growth is likely to more than double to nearly 10% sequentially in the March quarter of FY22, when the full beneficial impact of sharp tariff hikes of last November hits home, analysts said.Telecom sector revenues grew at 4.5% and 4.2% sequentially in the second and third quarters of FY22."The telecom industry is estimated to see a jump in revenue growth in Q4FY22 at around 10% sequentially due to the full impact of tariff hikes taken by operators last November, although the pace of 4G upgrades is likely to slow down in coming quarters due to the increased cost of services," Kunal Vora, head of India Equity Research, BNP Paribas, told ET.Vora, though, expects telecom industry revenue growth to return to the 4-5% level sequentially in April-June FY23, as the impact of the last tariff hike is likely to be largely captured in this quarter. He added that the combined revenue of Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea (Vi) "increased to 452 billion (45,200 crore) in Q3FY22 from 315 billion (31,500 crore) in Q1FY19, which after adjusting for elimination of IUC (interconnect usage charges), reflects a revenue increase by over 50% during the period."Analysts expect the country''s telecom user base to rapidly comprise only active users with the minimum cost of mobile services having doubled to 99 over the last two quarters, post-price hikes taken in July and November 2021.The phenomenon is already reflected in the massive clean-up of low-paying customers undertaken by Jio in the second and third quarters of FY22, which helped the telecom market leader boost its active user base and improve its VLR (visitor location register) ratio to 87.6% in December 2021.The active or VLR data put out every month by the telecom regulator indicates the actual number of subscribers actively using a mobile network.

Kim Kardashian wants a California judge to legally declare her a single woman before the rest of the details of her divorce from Kanye West are finalized. But West is fighting to stop it from happeningand would like to remain on Kims health-care plan for the time beingaccording to court documents obtained by The Daily Beast . A 40-page declaration submitted in Los Angeles County Superior Court by Yes divorce lawyer, Christopher Melcher, lays out a list of reasons why Kims desire to dissolve the marriage ASAP should be rejected. Legally speaking, Kim is requesting a status-only judgment, which is only for the termination of marital or domestic partner status as the couple work to resolve their issues concerning shared property, finances, and custody arrangements. However, Kanye argues that granting Kims wishes to undo the union now creates a risk of adverse consequences. This is especially true, Kanyes motion explains, if Kim were to die or remarry before the case comes to a final conclusion.

Gold''s "Tried-And-Tested Insurance Characteristics" Shine Brighter Than Ever; UBS CIO Via Birch Gold Group UBS: Gold offers resilience, “tried-and-true insurance characteristics” for investors Recently, CNBC’s Elliot Smith explored the resilience of gold’s price during the recent weeks of stock market volatility and the surge in Treasury yields. Typically, gold’s price levels are strongly affected by two forces — bond yields, and the dollar index. Recently, both 10-year Treasury yields and the dollar index rose from multi-month lows. Historically speaking, a rise in Treasury yields has a negative impact on gold’s price. That’s because investors who want a safe haven for their funds generally prefer to receive interest payments. (One of the common complaints about gold as an investment is it doesn’t pay dividends or interest.) That complaint makes less sense in an economic environment where the U.S. 10-year Treasury bond pays a negative after-inflation yield . The dollar index (DXY) is a different matter.
