The 31 Member Countries of the Governing Board of the International Energy Agency (IEA) has agreed to release 60 million barrels of oil from their emergency reserves, according to a release by the agency. This was done to send a unified and strong message to global oil markets that there will be no shortfall in supplies as a result of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The statement which was made in a Governing Board meeting, held at the Ministerial level, was chaired by Jennifer Granholm, US Secretary of Energy, in her capacity as Chair of this year’s IEA Ministerial Meeting. According to the release, the Agency Ministers noted with concern the energy security impacts of the egregious actions by Russia, and voiced support for sanctions imposed by the international community in response. Nigeria represents one of Africa’s heavyweights when it comes to hydrocarbon exploration and production. With over 36 billion barrels of oil (bbl) and 200 trillion cubic feet of natural gas, the country has managed to position itself as both an attractive upstream market and competitive producer. In its Q1 2022 outlook, the State of African Energy, the African Energy Chamber (AEC) contends that Nigeria will maintain its position as one of Africa’s leading crude oil producers as well as one of the continent’s top three gas suppliers between 2022 and 2025, providing an opportunity for the west African country to leverage its energy resources for economic growth while addressing global energy demand. Until last week, the pipeline construction was complete, and Nord Stream 2 was awaiting full regulatory clearance from Germany and…

At the same time, the groaning weight on supply chains, still laboring from the pandemic, rose as the United States, Europe and their allies tightened the screws on Russia''s financial transactions and froze hundreds of billions of dollars of the central bank''s assets that are held abroad.

Major imports from Russia into APAC include oil and natural gas. Some countries import wheat and specialty gases such as neon and helium as well. But the overall volume of trade with the region is low, which may cause only a modest setback, according to Moody''s.
The Soyuz Vostok pipeline would deliver up to 1.77 trillion cubic feet of natural gas each year to China via Mongolia, Gazprom said.
The rise in oil prices comes as a major cause of worry for India as it is dependent on imports to meet 85% of its oil demand and 55% of natural gas requirements

NEW LAWS: What changes about life in Spain in March 2022?

09:31am, Tuesday, 01'st Mar 2022 The Local Denmark
Two years of Covid in Spain On March 14th 2020, Spain’s 47 million inhabitants went into full lockdown as the country and the world realised they were entering a global pandemic. It was a surreal time for all of us as we spent two months in strict home confinement, glued to the news and only allowed out for essential reasons as health workers battled to save lives with a virus they did not fully understand. A lot has changed since: six coronavirus waves, almost 100,000 deaths, more than 10 million infections, countless rules changes, 82 percent of the population fully vaccinated and 51 percent with a booster shot. Two years on and Covid is still with us but Spain is slowly heading towards a ‘new normal’ where restrictions don’t dominate our lives and Covid-19 infections are less rampant. Here’s to hoping the situation continues on the same track. Banner ad End of indoor face mask requirement? Even though experts and epidemiologists recently suggested that face masks will continue to be mandatory in indoor public settings until at least the summer of 2022 , on February 28th Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez announced that the long-lasting Covid rule will be lifted “very soon”.

Oil spill consumes Delta communities

09:08am, Tuesday, 01'st Mar 2022 BusinessDay
Residents of the Amuokpokpor-Elume community and its neighbouring communities in Sapele and Okpe Local Government Areas of Delta State are now living in fear as they are threatened by oil spillage from leaking wellheads operated by Nigeria’s giant domestic oil firm, Conoil. The spill has led to the outbreak of waterborne and skin diseases in the affected communities. During a peaceful protest, the locals expressed displeasure over the unfortunate disaster, lamenting that the river that has been poisoned by the spill remained the only source of drinking, cooking, bathing, and farming activities to them just as they demanded justice for their health, survival and environment. Christopher Obule, from Amuokpokpor Community who led the protesters at the community waterside, said crude oil and natural gas have been pumping into the community river and nearby fishing settlements for weeks now, along the Amuokpokpor Elume Community coastline through other communities before emptying into the Atlantic Ocean.

The Stock Market Delivers A Successful Retest

If the Fed doesn't overshoot and a Ukrainian armistice holds, the stock market can make it quite a bit further than the 200-DMA on the NDX, which, for the time being, is a good target.

Victor Davis Hanson: The Crowded Road To Kyiv

04:40am, Tuesday, 01'st Mar 2022 Zero Hedge
Victor Davis Hanson: The Crowded Road To Kyiv Authored by Victor Davis Hanson via AmGreatness.com, To retain our deterrence abroad, we must tighten our belts at home, pump oil and gas, start to balance our budget, junk wokeism as a nihilist indulgence, and recalibrate our military… One of the oddest commentaries about the Russian invasion of Ukraine is the boilerplate reaction that “borders can’t change in modern Europe” or “this does not happen in the 21st century.” But why in the world should the 21st century be exempt from the pathologies of the past 20 centuries? Are we smarter than the Romans? More innovative than Florentines? Do we have more savvy leaders than Lincoln or Churchill? Are they more mellifluous than Demosthenes? Does anyone now remember that some 130,000 were slaughtered just 30 years ago in the former Yugoslavia, as NATO planes bombed Belgrade and nuclear America and Russia almost squared off? Has globalization, the “rules-based order,” the Davos reset elite, the “international community” so improved the very way humans think that they have rendered obsolete the now ossified ancient idea of deterrence?
