How Much will Home Prices Continue to Rise in 2022?
03:58pm, Wednesday, 23'rd Feb 2022 Kiplinger
After watching four homes go to competing bidders over the course of seven frustrating months, Shubham Nath and Ankur Srivastava finally nabbed a four-bedroom house in Warren, N.J., last June. The couple pounced on the property when it hit the market. We saw the home on a Saturday, looked at it a second time that Sunday and made an offer Sunday night, says Nath. And this time they were prepared to best the seven other bidders: They offered about $60,000 above the homes $849,000 list price, plus a 2.5-month closing period so that the seller would have plenty of time to pack up and move. And when the property appraised for $7,000 below the price they had agreed upon in the purchase contract, the couple paid for the appraisal gap. We jumped through a lot of hoops, Nath says. SEE MORE The Problem With Todays Hot Real Estate Investment Market On the bright side, the house, about 35 miles west of New York City, has ample space for home offices for both Nath, 39, a data analyst, and Srivastava, 42, a software engineer.

Cities Where Homes Cost An Average Of $1 Million Or More Have Doubled In The Last 5 Years
02:20am, Friday, 18'th Feb 2022 Zero Hedge
Cities Where Homes Cost An Average Of $1 Million Or More Have Doubled In The Last 5 Years As the real estate market continues to scorch higher, part and parcel with the brutal inflation the nation is facing, the idea of million dollar homes is now becoming commonplace. Houses over $1 million have become "the norm" in 481 U.S. cities, according to new analysis from Bloomberg . This is double the number from five years ago, the report says, citing Zillow data released Wednesday. 146 cities reached the million dollar tier in 2021, the report says - it''s most ever in a single year. 10 years ago, the number of cities with million dollar average home costs was just 126. And while some asset classes have pulled back thanks to the Fed''s hawkish (sounding) stance, real estate has endured. Home prices were up 19.6% last year, the report says. Idaho, Montana and Tennessee all had cities break the million dollar mark for the first time in 2021. California, Massachusetts and New York all had the most new cities with million dollar average home values.
