Orix Ads Earnings Call Transcript Summary of Q1 2026
ORIX reported strong Q1 results for the three months ended June 30, 2025: net income JPY 107.3bn (up 24% YoY) with an annualized ROE of 10.4% and pretax profit growth driven across finance, operation and investments. Investment gains (including Hotel Universal Port Vita and valuation gains such as Ormat) produced JPY 45.1bn of capital gains in Q1. The company closed the partial sale of Greenko (sale proceeds USD 1.282bn; gain ~JPY 93.4bn to be finalized at Q2 close) and is reinvesting in AM Green via convertible notes (USD 331m). ORIX agreed to acquire a 71.4% stake in Hilco Global to expand ABL, asset-management and asset-liquidity capabilities, especially in the U.S. Capital recycling remains active: JPY 130bn cash inflows from sales vs. JPY 150bn outflows for new investments in Q1. Shareholder returns: JPY 40.9bn of the JPY 100bn buyback completed by end-July; interim DPS policy remains at a 39% payout ratio of first-half net income, but the full-year profit forecast is under review given macro uncertainty and potential H2 timing of exits. Segment highlights: strong Environment & Energy and Real Estate results (hotel sales and improved RevPAR in Kansai), solid performance in Corporate Financial Services (used-car market, Rentec), mixed results in ORIX USA (impairments and conservative stance given higher rates and tariff uncertainty), and modest declines in aircraft & ships. AUM grew to JPY 81tn (from ~JPY 74tn in March), aided by inflows, CLO/securitization activity and market valuation. Management emphasized disciplined investment selection, portfolio optimization through capital recycling, and continued focus on ROE and EPS growth.
