Silicon Motion Technology Earnings Call Transcript Summary of Q1 2026
Silicon Motion delivered a stronger-than-expected Q1 2026 with record revenue of $342.1M (up 23% sequentially, +105% YoY) and gross margin of 47.2%. Growth was driven by embedded eMMC/UFS, Ferri (automotive) and boot-drive solutions, early ramps of PCIe 5 client SSD controllers and initial commercial ramp activity for MonTitan (enterprise/cloud AI) controllers. Management highlighted a sustained NAND supply shortage and elevated prices through 2026–27 but said Silicon Motion’s long-standing relationships with multiple NAND makers give it a competitive advantage in securing supply and winning share as NAND makers outsource more controller development. The company expects continued sequential growth in 2026, guiding Q2 revenue up 15–20% to $393–$411M, gross margin improving to ~48.5–49.5%, and operating margin of ~21–22%. MonTitan enterprise controllers and boot-drive products are entering volume qualification and early production ramps with several Tier-1 CSPs and hyperscalers, and a PCIe 6 MonTitan tape-out is planned in Q3 (4nm) targeting meaningful revenue in 2027–28. Management will continue to invest in advanced-node development (PCIe 6/MonTitan) while expecting operating margins to improve despite increased R&D and development costs.
