NEW YORK Stocks fell sharply Friday as a new highly transmissible coronavirus variant from South Africa seemed to be spreading across the globe, threatening months of progress at getting the pandemic under control. Gottlieb , who sits on Pfizers board, said on Face the Nation that there is no question there will be a COVID-19 spike after Thanksgiving. Were going to see a post-holiday spike, theres no question about that. People are exhausted right now, but we need to remain vigilant just for a little bit longer, he said.
