Pfizer Inc fell 5.3% after the drugmaker''s full-year sales forecast for its COVID-19 vaccine and antiviral pills fell short of Wall Street estimates. Facebook-owner Meta Platforms fell 1.4% after billionaire investor Peter Thiel decided to step down from the company''s board. The stock is down for a fourth session after its bleak forecast wiped out billions of dollars in market value last week. Other high-growth stocks like Google-owner Alphabet Inc and Amazon.com Inc fell 1% each, while big banks like Bank of America Corp and JPMorgan Chase & Co jumped 2.5% each. "We''ve got a rising interest rate environment which we haven''t seen since 2018 and there are a lot of investors in high growth names that continue to see weakness," said Dennis Dick, a trader at Bright Trading LLC in Las Vegas. "You''re going to see money rotate to lower multiple names and more value-oriented market." Seven of the eleven major S&P 500 sectors declined, with energy leading the fall.

Coty (COTY) delivered earnings and revenue surprises of 41.67% and 2.05%, respectively, for the quarter ended December 2021. Do the numbers hold clues to what lies ahead for the stock?

Shares of Coty Inc. slumped 3.9% in premarket trading Tuesday, after the beauty products company reported fiscal second-quarter profit that beat expectations and raised its full-year outlook, but reported revenue that came up a bit short. For the quarter to Dec. 31, the company swung to net income of $192.7 million, or 23 cents a share, from a loss of $275.4 million, or 36 cents a share, in the year-ago period. Excluding nonrecurring items, adjusted earnings per share came to 17 cents, above the FactSet consensus of 11 cents. Revenue grew 11.5% to $1.58 billion, but was just short of the FactSet consensus of $1.60 billion, as Prestige revenue rose 12T to $1.01 billion and Consumer Beauty revenue increased 11% to $570.2 million. Gross margin improved to 64.4% from 58.7%, as cost of sales fell 3.9% to $561.1 million. For fiscal 2022, the company raised its adjusted EPS guidance range to 22 cents to 26 cents from 20 cents to 24 cents. The stock has tumbled 19.7% over the past three months through Monday, while the S&P 500 has slipped 4.6%.
