Deutsche Bank Warns Staffers Not To Delete Work-Related Whatsapp Messages After the SEC slapped JP Morgan with a $200M fine inspired by staffers'' usage of Whatsapp and private email addresses, Deutsche Bank is worried it might be next. So, it sent a reminder to its bankers reminding them that conducting company business on private devices could be a violation of American law. Bankers who use Whatsapp for business purposes are asked not to delete any pertinent messages lest they involve the bank in a criminal matter. According to Bloomberg , DB will also be "stepping up scrutiny" of employee communications, supposedly out of concern American authorities are planning a "crack down". The bank is in the process of devising better processes for storing Whatsapp messages sent from company phones. The memo sent to the bank''s staff reminding them of the bank''s strict policies surrounding work-related communications - and which was obtained by Bloomberg - is only the latest in a series of reminders.

Geopolitical Crises: What Happens Next In Markets?

08:40pm, Saturday, 19'th Feb 2022 Zero Hedge
Geopolitical Crises: What Happens Next In Markets? With the rank smell of geopolitical crisis again overpowering the air (not to mention the bidstack in the S&P500), Deutsche Bank''s head of thematic research Jim Reid thought it would be a good opportunity to highlight a table the bank''s equity strategists Binky Chadha and Parag Thatte did a few years ago examining what happens to the S&P 500 around domestic political and geopolitical events. The two show that these events have typically been short-lived, with a median sell-off of -5.7%. They tend to take around 3 weeks to reach a bottom and further 3 weeks to recover prior levels. On average the market was +6.5% and +13% higher from the bottom 3 and 12 months after. The other point the DB duo makes is that the underlying economic context tends to ultimately dominate. He highlights that: The oil embargo of 1973, with clearly visible negative economic impacts, saw the biggest selloff in the S&P 500 and the slowest equity market recovery since World War II.

Key Events This Week: FOMC Minutes, Retail Sales And PPI

02:50pm, Monday, 14'th Feb 2022 Zero Hedge
Key Events This Week: FOMC Minutes, Retail Sales And PPI After a tumultous, roller-coaster week which packed weeks if not months in every single day, it''s a quieter week in terms of scheduled releases with the FOMC minutes on Wednesday - which as DB''s Jim Reid reminds us pre-date a 7.5% CPI print - the notable highlight, with US PPI and retail sales also on deck. Having said that the minutes published in the first week of January brought QT bang into the spotlight and started the rates sell-off so there is always room for surprises and remember that at the January FOMC press conference, Powell did suggest that the committee had held detailed discussion on the balance sheet so we may learn more. Then there is the Ukraine-Russia standoff, which together with thinking about rising interest rates, means that we won''t be able to relax after last week''s high octane events according to Reid. Or maybe not: according to the latest market survey conducted by Deutsche Bank which was conducted before Friday''s news that the US warned of a Russia attack on Ukraine as early as this week, showed that only 7% thought that this situation would be a major influence on markets in 2 months'' time.
