Abb Earnings Call Transcript Summary of Q2 2026
ABB reported a strong Q2 with record orders (~$12bn) and record revenues ($9.5bn), broad-based demand across Electrification, Motion and Automation, and improved profitability and cash flow. Electrification was a standout: orders up ~58% (>$7bn) with strong data center demand and 19% comparable revenue growth, driving a record Operational EBITA margin of 24.9%. Motion and Automation showed solid order momentum but had margin pressure in Motion (dilution from the Gamesa Electric acquisition and some operational inefficiencies) while Automation improved margins aided by cost control and a one-off provision release. Backlog reached a record ~$30bn (up ~28% comparable). ABB announced three acquisitions that together add ~3.5% to 2025 revenue, including an offer for Rotork (~GBP5.03/share, ~$5.5bn), which would expand ABB’s actuator/’Act’ capability in the Sense-Control-Act automation loop and is expected to be accretive to EPS in year two. Management raised 2026 revenue growth guidance to low double-digit to low teens (comparable) and expects margins to improve vs. last year (excluding a prior real estate gain). Free cash flow was solid ($881m) and ABB reiterated a path to improved e-mobility losses toward break-even by year-end and continued disciplined M&A execution focused on revenue synergies and service expansion.
