Dolby Laboratories Earnings Call Transcript Summary of Q1 2026
Dolby reported a stronger-than-expected start to fiscal 2026 (Q1) with revenue of $347M and non-GAAP EPS of $1.06, both above the high end of prior guidance. Licensing revenue was $320M and Products & Services $27M. The company raised full-year revenue guidance to $1.40B–$1.45B and expects FY non-GAAP EPS of $4.30–$4.45. Key growth drivers are Dolby Atmos, Dolby Vision (now Dolby Vision 2) and imaging patents, which Dolby expects to grow ~15% and collectively are approaching 50% of licensing revenue. Automotive is a fast-growing end market (partnerships with 35+ OEMs vs. 20 last year) and Dolby highlighted significant momentum from CES—including in-car Atmos and Vision demos and a Qualcomm Gen 5 Snapdragon Automotive platform partnership. OTT and social platforms are adopting Dolby technologies (Peacock, Roku joining the video distribution patent pool, Meta supporting Vision on Facebook and Instagram, Douyin expanding Vision to Android), which supports mobile and streaming monetization initiatives. OptiView adoption (NFL, bookmakers, SIS) is positioning Dolby in low-latency streaming/video distribution. Q1 included a $7M favorable true-up and a $10M restructuring charge in GAAP OpEx. Cash & investments were ~$730M; operating cash flow was ~$55M and $70M of share repurchases were completed (remaining authorization ~$207M). Management reiterated confidence in mid- to long-term growth (15–20% for core technologies) and indicated quarterly variability is common due to deal timing, recoveries and MVCs. Risks cited include macroeconomic factors, memory pricing impacts (noted as a possible modest headwind, primarily in Mobile), supply chain and geopolitical factors.
