JPMorgan Chase & Earnings Call Transcript Summary of Q2 2026
JPMorgan Chase reported a strong Q2 2026: net income of $16.9 billion, EPS $6.14 and ROTCE 23%. Revenue (ex-significant items) rose ~15% YoY, driven by markets (notably equities), higher investment banking fees, asset & wealth management fees and higher deposit and loan balances. CIB was a standout with 27% revenue growth and particularly strong equity trading and ECM activity; AWM saw $50 billion of long-term net inflows and AUM up 18% YoY. Consumer Banking (CCB) showed resilience with strong spend, >500k net new checking accounts, and deposits up modestly. Credit performance was better-than-expected (card NCO guidance revised to ~3.2%); total credit costs were $2.5 billion this quarter. The standardized CET1 ratio fell to 14.1% (down 20 bps QoQ) after ~ $103 billion RWA increase driven by markets financing and lending growth. Management raised full-year guidance: NII ex-Markets to ~$96.5B and total NII to ~$105.5B (markets NII ~ $9B); adjusted expense outlook increased to ~$107.5B reflecting higher volume/revenue-related expenses. The Board intends to increase the quarterly dividend to $1.65 per share effective Q3. Management emphasized continued investment (branches, bankers, technology and AI) while noting that some of the markets-related revenue strength was driven by large, potentially pull-forward events and may not fully reoccur. Leadership changes were announced: two co-presidents (Doug and Troy) elevated and Marianne (Marianne Lake) is retiring; Jamie Dimon reiterated the previously stated succession timetable is unchanged. Management reiterated focus on disciplined capital deployment (organic first, opportunistic M&A), regulatory engagement, and measured risk management across underwriting amid pockets of competitive looseness.
