First Western Financial Earnings Call Transcript Summary of Q1 2026
First Western Financial delivered a strong Q1 2026: net income of $6.2 million (63¢ per diluted share), EPS up 85% quarter-over-quarter, and tangible book value per share increased 3.3% sequentially. Key drivers were loan and deposit growth, net interest margin (NIM) expansion (up 10 bps sequentially to 2.81%), higher mortgage banking revenues, improved asset quality (no charge-offs, declines in nonaccruals and NPAs), and disciplined expense management (efficiency ratio improved for the sixth consecutive quarter). New loan production was $116 million in the quarter (avg yield on new production 6.31%), and deposits rose ~$95 million sequentially, lowering the loan-to-deposit ratio to below 95%. Trust and investment AUM increased modestly; trust/wealth fees rose and the team was restructured for growth. Management reiterated prior 2026 guidance, expects continued balance-sheet growth (loan and deposit growth similar to 2025), further but more moderate NIM expansion, improved fee income, and operating leverage from controlled expenses and strategic hires—especially opportunities created by M&A disruption in their markets. Capital and liquidity appear healthy (FHLB borrowing at zero in April), buybacks continue modestly (avg price ~$23.85), and management targets restoring longer-term profitability (aspiration of >1% ROA and mid/high-single-digit to low-teens ROE over time).
