D-Wave Quantum Earnings Call Transcript Summary of Q1 2026
D-Wave reported Q1 2026 revenue of $2.9M (down YoY due to a large system sale in prior year) but delivered a major beat in bookings and backlog: $33.4M in bookings (up ~1,994% YoY) and $42.4M of remaining performance obligations (RPO), with ~54% of RPO expected to be recognized in the next 12 months. The company emphasized dual-platform differentiation (annealing + newly acquired gate-model capability from Quantum Circuits) and promoted its dual-rail qubit technology as a potential step-change in fidelity, speed, error-detection and scalability. Management reiterated commercial traction for annealing systems today (customers across enterprise and research, production use cases in optimization, AI and blockchain testnet activity) and provided a gate-model roadmap targeting ~175 physical qubits by end of 2028, 10 logical qubits by 2030 and 100 logical qubits by 2032. Operating expenses rose materially (GAAP OpEx $56.5M) driven by the Quantum Circuits acquisition and increased R&D and go-to-market spend; adjusted EBITDA loss widened to $32.8M. Cash and marketable securities stood at $588.4M after spending $250M on the Quantum Circuits acquisition; management says liquidity supports a fully funded path to profitability. Management expects 2–3 system sales in 2026 (at least two deliveries expected) and that a substantial portion of 2026 revenue will be recognized in H2.
