Semtech Earnings Call Transcript Summary of Q2 2026
Semtech reported record Q2 FY2026 net sales of $257.6M (up 20% YoY) with the sixth consecutive quarter of growth. Key drivers were strength in data center (record $52.2M), solid consumer TVS and PerSe sensing adoption, and continued momentum in industrial/LoRa and IoT systems hardware. Management highlighted progress on three priorities over the CEO's first year: materially strengthening the balance sheet (debt reduced by $879M and adjusted net leverage down to 1.6x from 8.8x), portfolio rationalization and increased R&D investment in core areas (data center, LoRa, PerSe), and cultural revitalization focused on customer engagement and execution. Data center initiatives remain central: FiberEdge (400G/800G and upcoming 1.6T), CopperEdge active copper cables/linear equalizers (lower-power, longer-reach ACCs), and LPO 800G/1.6T laser-driver/TIA opportunities with expected initial revenue ramp beginning in Q4 calendar 2025 and broader ramps into 2026. LoRa demand exceeded prior expectations with end-node shipments at a record level; management now expects LoRa quarterly revenue between $30M–$40M. Financially, adjusted gross margin was 53.2%, adjusted EPS was $0.41, operating cash flow and free cash flow improved materially, and the company repaid debt further. Management provided Q3 guidance: net sales ~$266M (+12% YoY midpoint), adjusted gross margin ~53.0%, adjusted diluted EPS ~$0.44. They also recorded a noncash $41.9M goodwill impairment in connected services (GAAP). Execution priorities remain investing in core growth while continuing portfolio optimization (including potential noncore dispositions and selective tuck-ins).
