01:05pm, Friday, 04'th Feb 2022 Zero Hedge
Futures Reverse Overnight Gains As Amazon Euphoria Fizzles We warned last night that the surge in futures following the huge bounce in Amazon stock wouldn''t last (simply because a closer read of the company''s earnings left a lot to be desired) and sure enough, in the overnight (extremely illiquid) session, 500 futures erased gains of as much as 1.3% to trade 0.1% lower, or 10 points, to 4,460 as European stocks extend their decline as inflation and monetary tightening outweighed earnings optimism. The VIX increased for a third day Friday, hovering just below 26. The dollar dropped as the EUR surge continued, following yesterday''s unexpectedly hawkish comments from Lagarde ... while oil was on course for a seventh weekly advance with Brent rising Relief, as brief as it was, was welcome after a 4.2% crash in the Nasdaq 100 Index on Thursday, its biggest since 2020, fueled by a 26% rout in Meta Platforms following disappointing results.

Amazon Explodes 18% Higher On Solid Earnings, AWS Beat, Prime Price Increase
09:21pm, Thursday, 03'rd Feb 2022 Zero Hedge
Amazon Explodes 18% Higher On Solid Earnings, AWS Beat, Prime Price Increase With the bulk of the FAAMG stocks - which is now GAMMA following Facebook''s rebranding to Meta - having reported Q4 results (some great, like GOOLG and MSFT, some, like Facebook, terrible), investors were keenly looking to Amazon earnings, where the biggest question for Amazon is how sustainable are the growth trends that boosted its performance during the pandemic. The Internet giant was one of the biggest beneficiaries of shifts in consumer and business behavior last year while continuing to grab market share in cloud. As Bloomberg notes, 2022 is a critical year for new Amazon CEO Andy Jassy, who is facing a declining stock price, slowing e-commerce growth, rising costs, and labor concerns in New York and Alabama. He’s also facing inflation, new consumer technology rivals and third-party product delays in the early days of his first full year as the company’s top executive. Many analysts are expecting a price hike to Amazon Prime given inflation.

07:30pm, Thursday, 03'rd Feb 2022 MarketWatch
The Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday overwhelmingly passed a bill aimed at curtailing the market power of Apple Inc.''s and Google parent Alphabet Inc.''s app stores. Retail Investors Are Flooding In To Buy Meta''s Face-plant Dip
06:00pm, Thursday, 03'rd Feb 2022 Zero Hedge
Retail Investors Are Flooding In To Buy Meta''s Face-plant Dip Years of BTFD instinct don''t go away just like that, and with Facebook plunging the 26%, its biggest drop ever, and also the biggest loss of market cap by any company in US history - putting it in context FB has lost more value today than the market cap of 455 S&P500 members - and after its opening collapse, the retail crew has arrived and according to Fidelity, thousands of retail investors are buying the dip this morning. According to Fidelity , FB was by far the most traded among individual investors using Fidelitys platform, with volumes more than five times that of Tesla, the second-most traded stock according to Bloomberg. The imbalance was 80% in favor of dip buyers, with more than 49k buy orders placed on the platform as of 11:52am, compared to 12k sell orders as of 11:52 a.m. in New York. In context, the staggering amount of buy orders was roughly seven times the demand for Amazon, the second-most bought stock. The flood of retail buying is hardly as surprise, and it represents a continuation of the relentless, if somewhat more subdued, purchases by ordinary investors.
