Hugo Boss AG Earnings Call Transcript Summary of Q1 2026
HUGO BOSS reported Q1 2026 results as the first full quarter executing its CLAIM 5 TOUCHDOWN strategy, prioritizing brand repositioning, distribution quality and operational excellence over short-term volume. Group sales fell ~6% (currency-adjusted) due to deliberate assortment and distribution actions and weaker consumer demand; BOSS revenues declined ~3%, HUGO declined ~21%. EBIT was EUR 35m (3.9% margin) and EPS EUR 0.24. Gross margin expanded 110 basis points to 62.5%, driven by sourcing efficiencies, lower airfreight and better pricing. Inventories declined ~13% y/y and trade net working capital improved ~10% (currency-adjusted). Free cash flow before leases improved by nearly EUR 100m y/y to EUR 33m. The company closed a net 15 freestanding stores in the quarter, continued to reduce promotions (no mid-season sale participation) and kept marketing around 7% of sales. Management reiterated full-year 2026 guidance: currency-adjusted sales to decline mid- to high-single digits and EBIT guidance of EUR 300–350m, emphasizing focus on profitability, cash generation, inventory discipline and caution given elevated macro and geopolitical volatility (notably Middle East impacts).
