EMCOR Group Earnings Call Transcript Summary of Q1 2026
EMCOR reported a very strong Q1 2026: revenue of $4.63 billion (+19.7% YoY; +16.8% organic), operating income of $403.8 million (8.7% margin) and diluted EPS of $6.84 (+30% YoY). Both Electrical and Mechanical Construction set quarterly revenue records (Electrical +33%, Mechanical +29%)—driven heavily by Network & Communications (data centers) as well as institutional, manufacturing/industrial, health care and water/wastewater. Remaining performance obligations (RPO) rose to $15.62 billion (+32.9% YoY, +17.9% sequential), giving multi-quarter visibility. Management raised FY2026 guidance to revenue of $18.5–$19.25 billion and diluted EPS of $28.25–$29.75. Gross margin and operating leverage were healthy (gross profit margin ~18.7%; SG&A leverage improved), and the company returned $105 million to shareholders in the quarter (buybacks + dividend). Balance sheet liquidity remains strong (≈$916M cash; ~$1.25B working capital) and CapEx is being directed to prefabrication/fabrication capabilities (FY26 CapEx guide ~$115–$125M). Management flagged mix shifts toward GMP/cost-plus on certain new projects (particularly in mechanical/data center work), which can compress margin percentages in quarters, but emphasized growth in absolute margin dollars, disciplined contract management, and continued investments in training, VDC/prefab and field leadership to scale. Cash flow seasonality was reiterated (Q1 weaker; Q4 strongest), and M&A focus remains on expanding electrical, mechanical service, fire protection, controls/automation and selective fabrication capabilities.
