HighPeak Energy Earnings Call Transcript Summary of Q1 2026
High Peak delivered a strong operational quarter with production averaging ~46,000 BOE/d (about 7.5% above the midpoint of guidance) and oil production up ~10% quarter-over-quarter. Cost performance was a standout: LOE/BOE came in >17% below guided range and ~22% below Q4, driven by optimized chemical programs, more efficient fuel-gas use, and electrification. Absolute operating costs fell by roughly $7.4 million quarter-over-quarter. Capital spending (~29% of full-year budget) and activity are tracking the plan (roughly one-third of drilling/TIL activity completed in Q1); the company expects ~60% of 2026 capital to be deployed in H1. Management has shifted to a maintenance-mode development strategy (capex down ~50% vs prior year) to hold production roughly flat while maximizing free cash flow — a metric that improved materially (net oil produced per $ of capital up ~60%). Excluding working capital, High Peak generated over $21 million of free cash flow in Q1 (vs. -$42M in Q4). The company exits 2026 with ~9–10 DUCs, providing optionality into 2027. Balance-sheet actions: an ATM program of up to $150 million of common stock has been established for optional liquidity/debt reduction (no obligation to issue). Hedging posture gives ~40% average exposure to spot oil with a hedge floor in the mid-$60s. Management cautions they will remain disciplined — not chasing short-term price moves — while noting upside if higher prices persist. One-time/seasonal items: a ~$35 million working-capital swing related to late Q4 activity and final fracs impacted Q1 cash flow but is expected to normalize.
