Gevo Earnings Call Transcript Summary of Q1 2026
Gevo reported continued operational improvement in Q1 2026 with revenue of $43M and positive adjusted EBITDA of $9M, marking the fourth consecutive quarter of positive non-GAAP adjusted EBITDA. Management reaffirmed a 2026 target of approximately $30M adjusted EBITDA for the year and reiterated a goal to reach a $40M annualized adjusted EBITDA run rate by the end of 2026 through an "EBITDA challenge" initiative focused on revenue uplifts, operational improvements and cost management. Operationally, the company is completing debottlenecking work at Gevo, North Dakota (expected to increase site EBITDA by ~10–15% and begin reflecting in 2027), is on track to finish FEL3 for its Project North Star (ATJ 30) this quarter, and has secured roughly half of the financeable offtake contracts. Gevo withdrew from the DOE loan guarantee process for Project North Star and is pursuing private project-level financing and strategic partners; it has received nonbinding indications of interest and aims to secure financing by year-end 2026. The company announced a preliminary co-investment agreement with Ara Energy to potentially double Gevo, North Dakota capacity to ~150M gallons/year (expected 18–24 months post-FID) and plans to fund $26M of 2026 debottlenecking/site capex internally. Cash and equivalents were ~$79M at quarter end, with operating cash flow impacted by timing items (including ~$17M of generated but not-yet-monetized tax credits). Management sees multiple upside levers (new low-carbon fuel pathway approvals, carbon attribute sales, co-product improvements, and modular SAF deployment) and projects that Project North Star could ultimately generate approximately $150M of adjusted EBITDA annually once online.
