Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory reported a transitional quarter in which foundational operational changes are beginning to translate into financial improvement. Total revenue was $6.4M (roughly flat YoY); product sales declined to $4.7M while franchise and royalty fees rose to $1.7M. The company implemented incremental price increases (March and June), moved to a flat monthly freight fee to encourage more frequent store orders, and deployed new ERP and POS systems (POS rolled out to 100+ stores) to increase visibility into store- and manufacturing-level performance. Cost controls and factory efficiencies reduced operating expenses (G&A and COGS), producing net loss of $0.3M (−$0.04/share) versus −$1.7M a year ago, and positive EBITDA of $2.0M vs. negative $1.4M prior-year. Cash was $0.9M and term loan debt approximately $6.0M as of quarter end. Management says the Board is discussing capital needs but currently they are not planning a raise; any decision would be made by the Board. The company is focused on driving unit-level profitability, selective franchise growth with well-capitalized operators, and continuing margin capture as pricing and operational initiatives take hold.
